The 2026 London Proms commenced at London's Royal Albert Hall with an extraordinary opening night performance celebrating two centuries of symphonic innovation.
The program blended classic European symphonies with three newly commissioned works by contemporary composers, highlighting the festival's ongoing commitment to artistic progression and global representation.
"The Proms has always been a barometer of cultural trends—this year's focus on digital accessibility and diverse instrumentation is vital for classical survival," notes Julian Thorne.
Over 80,000 live attendees and millions of digital broadcast listeners are expected across the eight-week festival, which continues through mid-September.
